Delhi: The Andhra Pradesh Government proudly inaugurated its pavilion at Bharat Tex 2025, one of India’s premier textile exhibitions, in the national capital today at Bharatmandapam. The Honourable Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, formally opened the pavilion by cutting the ribbon, joined by Smt. Rekha Rani, Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, and Shri Kalisetti Appalanaidu, Member of Parliament.
The Andhra Pradesh pavilion, a vibrant display of the state’s rich handloom heritage, showcases a diverse range of exquisite textiles, including Venkatagiri, Mangalagiri, Dharmavaram, Uppada, and Kalamkari weaves. The initiative aims to promote local artisans and highlight Andhra Pradesh’s significant contribution to India’s textile sector.
Speaking at the event, Shri Giriraj Singh emphasized the importance of handloom revival and sustainable textile development, stating, “Andhra Pradesh is home to some of the finest handloom traditions in the country. This pavilion not only reflects the craftsmanship of our weavers but also aligns with the government’s commitment to strengthening the handloom sector through innovation and global outreach.”
Smt. Rekha Rani reiterated the state’s dedication to supporting weavers, noting, “Through Bharat Tex, we aim to provide a platform for Andhra Pradesh’s artisans to connect with national and international markets, ensuring their growth and sustainability.”
Shri Kalisetti Appalanaidu highlighted the employment opportunities generated by the handloom industry, stating, “Handlooms are not just a tradition but also a means of livelihood for thousands of families. This exhibition will help expand their market reach and bring well-deserved recognition to our weavers.”
The Andhra Pradesh pavilion will remain open throughout Bharat Tex 2025, offering visitors an immersive experience of the state’s handloom legacy, live demonstrations by skilled artisans, and opportunities to purchase authentic handmade textiles.
