New Delhi: The India International Centre (IIC) recently marked the 152nd birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo Ghose, the revered philosopher and spiritual leader, with a special screening of the film ‘Sri Aurobindo: Beginning of a Spiritual Journey.’ The event, held at the C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium, attracted a diverse audience keen to delve into the transformative phase of Sri Aurobindo’s life.
The screening was introduced by the film’s producer-director, Suraj Kumar, who shared his insights into the making of the film and the profound impact Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual journey had on his work. Kumar, known for his critically acclaimed Indo-Argentinean film ‘Thinking of Him,’ highlighted the significance of the period depicted in the film, during which Sri Aurobindo was arrested on May 5, 1908, and spent a year in Alipore Jail under trial in the ‘Alipore Bomb Case.’ This pivotal chapter, culminating in Sri Aurobindo’s acquittal and release on May 6, 1909, marked the beginning of his deep spiritual evolution.
‘Sri Aurobindo: Beginning of a Spiritual Journey’ stars Vikrant Chauhan in the role of Sri Aurobindo, offering the audience a powerful portrayal of the spiritual transformation of one of India’s most influential thinkers. The film, shot on location at the historic Alipore Jail, received an enthusiastic response from the audience, who were moved by its exploration of Sri Aurobindo’s inner awakening and its enduring relevance.
