Hindi Language MBBS Courses to Start at Government Medical Colleges

Raipur, September 14, 2024 – On Hindi Day, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai announced a landmark initiative, implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision by introducing medical education in Hindi at government medical colleges across the state. During a press conference at his residence office, with Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal present, the Chief Minister confirmed that starting from the academic session 2024-25, MBBS courses will be available in Hindi. Necessary textbooks in Hindi will be provided to students as per the directives given to the Health Department.

Chief Minister Sai highlighted that the true significance of Hindi Day is in advancing and promoting Hindi in all spheres of governance, administration, and education. He noted that this initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s announcement in February 2022 during a rally in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is now being realized in Chhattisgarh.

With ten government medical colleges in the state, this move is expected to greatly benefit students from rural backgrounds who are primarily from Hindi-medium schools and face difficulties with English. Providing education in their native language will enhance their understanding and strengthen their foundation as future medical professionals. Chief Minister Sai affirmed his commitment to implementing this policy at every level in Chhattisgarh.
