Raipur. The World Elephant Day to be observed in Chhattisgarh on August 12, 2024, presents a crucial opportunity to find long-term solutions for reducing conflict between humans and elephants. This event, initiated by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, will feature participation from the Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, along with other experts.
The state of Chhattisgarh faces increasing human-elephant conflict, including damage to crops, loss of life, and property damage caused by elephants. The program will include the 20th meeting of the Project Elephant Steering Committee, where long-term strategies for addressing these issues will be discussed. The meeting will also cover modern approaches, such as the use of drones and information technology, to monitor elephant movements.
