Nepal’s First Skydiving Event Led by Nepali Instructors Takes Off in Pokhara with Simrik Air

Pokhara, Nepal : In a historic milestone for aerial sports in Nepal,Simrik air in association with local instructors with over a decade of experience in skydiving and thousands of successful jumps are hosting the country’s first skydiving event led entirely by Nepali professionals. The event marks a significant shift in Nepal’s adventure tourism landscape, showcasing the potential of its homegrown talent. Simrik Air having history of conducting multitude of helicopter tours and activities has associated the team of local experts working in different countries to host this event to mark this event.

Turning Dreams into Reality
“This has been my dream for years,” says Alish.
Alish Thapa is a seasoned instructor with 18 years of experience with more than 4000 jumps recorded and aerial sports enthusiast.

“Thanks to Simrik Air, CAAN, and the Ministry of Tourism, we are finally taking steps to establish Nepal as a skydiving hub for adventure enthusiasts. With government support for dedicated airspace, skydiving could provide opportunities for youth and year-round economic benefits.”

The Team Behind the Leap
Alish is joined by a team of highly skilled instructors, including Subash Thapa, Manish Hirachan, Aashish Thapa, and Nepal’s first female skydiver and USPA-certified coach, Yeshoda KC Thapa. Together with Simrik Air, they aim to leverage Nepal’s natural beauty and towering peaks to attract adventure seekers from around the world.

Nepal has some of the most breathtaking landscapes for skydiving, We see immense potential, but proper policies and dedicated airspace are essential to fully capitalize on it. The majestic mountains beneath the diver and a reluctant fall is what excites an adventurous heart says Murali Dhar Joshi General manager of Simrik Air.

After successful dive from 13000 feet Capt Rameshwar Thapa , celebrated entrepreneur of Nepal narrates ‘It was an unforgettable and lifetime moment to dive into open sky. And also invites all of you to embrace and conquer the ultimate leap from 13000 feet and witness majestic mountains and mother nature.

Renowned business man and Marketing Director of Simrik air speaks to media post jump saying that ski diving unveiled energy and confidence out of me. Its not about the age that blocks to leap into open sky its the enthusiasm that comes from inner core for the adventure.


Anyone above age of 16 can take a dive, until they are medically and mentally fit.

“Interested clients often leave because of the long wait times for approvals,” explains Subash Thapa. “Pokhara needs a dedicated airspace for aerial sports like skydiving, paragliding, paramotor, hot air balloons, and ultra-light flights. This would not only streamline operations but also enhance Nepal’s reputation as an adventure tourism destination.”

The team believes that with proper policies, infrastructure, and government support, Nepal could emerge as a global hub for skydiving and other aerial sports. The natural beauty of Pokhara, combined with its proximity to the Himalayas, offers an unparalleled experience for adventure enthusiasts.

“This is not just about skydiving,” says Alish. “It’s about creating opportunities for Nepal’s youth and unlocking the economic potential of adventure tourism.”
The event has started from 10th of Jan to 21st of Jan 2025 intially and with further demand of diver is being extended for next 15 days to end by 5th February 2025. The enthusiasts willing to jump can contact Simrik air or Insky skidive team pokhara to secure their seats. Currently there are two package VIP package and deluxe package under the event and package starts from NRS 95000.

The success of this event will likely set the stage for further developments in aerial sports, as Nepal takes a bold leap toward becoming an international destination for thrill-seekers.
