Shimla: In 2021, several Temples were attacked in Bangladesh in the name of blasphemy. Why? A photo went viral in which their holy book was placed under the feet of an idol in a Durga Pandal.

After that, radical mob targeted the Hindu community and Temples across Bangladesh in the name of blasphemy. But, a few weeks later, CCTV footage revealed that a man named Iqbal Hossain had taken the holy book from a Mosque, walked into a Durga Pandal and placed the book. So, he planned everything to incite riots in the name of blasphemy.

There are also several cases where false allegations of blasphemy were made against individuals due to some personal enmity, conflicts or even jealousy.

If you have seen the disturbing video of Dipu Chandra Das, who worked at a garment factory, he was brutually lynched to death by a radical mob over alleged blasphemy. His body was tied to a tree and set on fire. Look at the people in the video, they were recording and celebrating the barbaric act while chanting religious slogans.

There are 4 levels.
First, those who commit the act.
Second, those who celebrate the act.
Third, those who support the act.
Fourth, those who defend the act.

These levels are seen everywhere, if you look at India as well, when Kanhaiya Lal was beheaded, the act was recorded, it was celebrated by a section of people, it was supported, and there is an Islamic organization that is defending all the accused in court. Kanhaiya Lal didn’t even do anything blasphemous. He was killed simply for supporting Nupur Sharma.

Blasphemy has become a tool in Bangladesh and Pakistan to target or kill anyone.

The same pattern is being attempted in India, you may have obsevered the rise of a slogan “Sar Tan Se Juda” over the last few years. There are several videos where even children are raising this slogan during their religious functions and even festivals.

Just few days ago, the Allahabad High Court said that the slogan “Sar Tan Se Juda” is a challenge to the authority of law as well as sovereignty and integrity of India.

We must ensure that such blasphemy-driven violence is not normalized in India, the way it has become a routine in Bangladesh.
