Roorkee, Uttarakhand : The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee celebrated Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour in front of the iconic James Thomason Building. The event, which began promptly at 9:00 a.m., saw the participation of students, faculty members, officers, employees, and their families.

The program commenced with the gathering of the IIT Roorkee community, who assembled in anticipation of the arrival of the Director. Following the arrival of the Director at 9:00 a.m., the event began with the students’ soulful rendition of the “Kulgeet”.

The Director inspected the Guard of Honour, a symbol of respect and gratitude towards the nation and its defenders. The Director proudly hoisted the national flag, marking the formal beginning of the Independence Day celebrations. The unfurling of the Tricolour was met with a resounding cheer from the attendees, filling the atmosphere with a deep patriotism.

In his address, the Director emphasized the importance of unity, innovation, and social responsibility in building a progressive India. He highlighted the significance of IIT Roorkee’s role in contributing to the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, urging everyone to actively participate in nation-building by saving food, water, and energy and maintaining cleanliness.

The celebration was enriched with cultural performances that showcased the diverse heritage and talent within the IIT Roorkee community. Students from ABN Senior Secondary School, Anushruti Academy for the Deaf, and the Cultural Society of IIT Roorkee presented captivating performances that honored India’s rich cultural tapestry and the spirit of freedom.

In addition to the morning festivities, the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ organized by Think India, IIT Roorkee, in the afternoon, brought together students, staff, and faculty in a vibrant display of unity and patriotism. This event saw enthusiastic participation, echoing the success and spirit of last year’s Yatra. The procession, which started from the MAC Gate in front of Rajiv Bhawan, symbolized the collective commitment of the IIT Roorkee community to the nation’s ideals.

The Independence Day celebrations concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by a resounding collective proclamation of “Jai Hind” three times. The spirit of pride and patriotism was palpable as the crowd united in this heartfelt tribute to the nation.

The day’s events at IIT Roorkee not only reflected the institute’s enduring legacy and achievements but also its commitment to shaping a brighter future for India. The vibrant participation from all corners of the campus highlighted the shared sense of purpose that defines IIT Roorkee’s community. As the institute continues to contribute to national and global progress, unity, innovation, and sustainability will remain at the heart of its endeavors. कानपुर: गैर राजनीतिक ऑपरेशन विजय ने 14 साल लंबे संघर्ष के बाद अब सामाजिक बुराइयों के खिलाफ निर्णायक संघर्ष शुरू किया है। जिसके तहत ‘इंसान व इंसानियत बचाओ यात्रा’ स्वतंत्रता दिवस के ऐतिहासिक पर्व पर 15 अगस्त 2024 कानपुर से शुरु की।

यात्रा कानपुर नगर स्थित ऑपरेशन विजय के मुख्य कार्यालय से मोती झील तक निकाली गई, जिसमें भारी संख्या में 04 पहिया और दो पहिया वाहनों के साथ-साथ ऑपरेशन विजय उत्तर प्रदेश के कई जिलों के जिलाध्यक्ष एवं वरिष्ठ पदाधिकारियों के साथ-साथ कानपुर नगर व आसपास के ऑपरेशन विजय पदाधिकारी, योद्धा व समर्थक शामिल हुए।

मुख्य कार्यालय से शुरू हुई ऑपरेशन विजय की इंसान व इंसानियत बचाओ यात्रा पूरे कानपुर नगर में आकर्षण का केंद्र रही, जिसे स्थानी लोगों ने अपने मोबाइल में कैद कर अपनी खुशी जताई। ऑपरेशन विजय यात्रा का कदम कदम पर भव्य स्वागत किया गया, जो यात्रा 02 घंटे में पूरी होनी थी वह जगह-जगह स्वागत व आम जनता की मिल रहे समर्थन की वजह से करीब 06 घंटे तक चली।

ऑपरेशन विजय द्वारा निकाली गई इंसान व इंसानियत बचाओ यात्रा में पुष्प वर्षा कर व ऑपरेशन विजय राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष एवं यात्रा नेतृत्वकर्ता शिवमंगल सिंह आईपी एवं वरिष्ठ पदाधिकारी को फूलमाला पहनाकर एवं मिठाइयां खिलाकर स्वागत करने वालों में प्रमुख बलराम केसरी, सागर द्विवेदी, राजकुमार गुप्ता, जीतू चौरसिया, अनुभव ओमर, मनीष कोहली, मुन्ना गुप्ता, विजय अजमानी, राम सिंह चंदेल, सुधीर कुमार यादव (पार्षद), शुक्ला टायर वाले आदि दर्जनों व्यापार मंडल के पदाधिकारी एवं व्यापारी शामिल रहे।

IIT Roorkee Hosts Mesmerizing Gotipua Dance Performance by SPIC MACAY

Roorkee, Uttarakhand: IIT Roorkee, in collaboration with SPIC MACAY (Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth), successfully hosted an enchanting evening dedicated to the Gotipua dance, a traditional and revered dance form from Odisha. The event was held at the MAC Auditorium and witnessed a remarkable turnout, reflecting the community’s enthusiasm for preserving and celebrating India’s rich cultural heritage.

The evening commenced with the traditional Deepshikha Lighting Ceremony, symbolizing an auspicious beginning. The ceremonial lamp was lit to invoke the blessings of Goddess Saraswati, setting a positive tone for the event.

The highlight of the event was the mesmerizing performance by the Gotipua dancers from the Dasabhuja Gotipua Odishi Nrutya Parisad, under the expert guidance of Guru Maguni Das. The young dancers, adorned in vibrant attire, captivated the audience with their intricate acrobatic figures and graceful movements, portraying scenes inspired by the divine love of Radha and Krishna. Their dedication to the art form was evident as they brought to life the rich traditions and cultural legacy of Odisha.

The performance was further enhanced by the soulful music provided by an ensemble of talented musicians, including Batakrishna Das on Mardala, Priyabrata Palai on Vocal and Harmonium, Chandan Sethi on Violin, DeenDayal Mohanta on Flute, and Bidyadhar Nayak on Majira. Together, they created an immersive experience that resonated deeply with the audience.

A special Q&A session followed the performance, allowing attendees to interact with the artists and gain deeper insights into the Gotipua dance form. The session provided a platform for meaningful exchange, enhancing the understanding and appreciation of this ancient art.

The event concluded with the presentation of mementos to the artists and distinguished guests, in recognition of their contribution to this cultural celebration. The audience left with a renewed sense of pride and a deeper connection to India’s diverse cultural heritage.

IIT Roorkee and CONCOR Forge Strategic Partnership to Revolutionize Logistics through Research and Innovation

Roorkee, Uttarakhand: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and Container Corporation of India Ltd. (CONCOR) have formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance research and development in logistics and supply chain management. The MoU was signed by Prof. Akshay Dvivedi, Dean Sponsored Research & Industrial Consultancy on behalf of IIT Roorkee and Smt. Ritu Narang, Senior General Manager (MIS) on behalf of CONCOR. Prof. Amit Upadhyay, in the Department of Management Studies at IIT Roorkee, has a significant role in this collaboration and shall be actively involved in all related research work.

The collaboration between IIT Roorkee, a premier academic institution of national importance, and CONCOR, a leader in multimodal logistics services in India, aims to foster research, innovation, and capacity-building initiatives. The partnership is set to develop cutting-edge optimization models to enhance the efficiency of containerized freight movement across India’s extensive railway network, particularly focusing on the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).

Under this MoU, IIT Roorkee will apply its academic and research prowess to conduct an in-depth Operations Research study. This study aims to optimize the loading of Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) on double-stack trains, ultimately reducing container rail haulage costs and improving inter-terminal movements through rail transhipment hubs. The collaboration will also involve developing an optimization-based decision support system for the efficient movement of container trains across CONCOR’s network.

Additionally, the MoU outlines several initiatives to foster industry-academia collaboration. CONCOR will provide internships for IIT Roorkee students, offering them hands-on experience with real-world logistics operations. Both parties will explore opportunities to establish jointly funded lab facilities and a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Roorkee, focusing on advanced research and development in logistics and supply chain management. Furthermore, the partnership will facilitate specialized courses, workshops, hackathons, and exhibitions, aimed at enhancing the skill sets of CONCOR employees and inspiring the next generation of logistics professionals.

The MoU will be effective for five years, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement. Both IIT Roorkee and CONCOR are committed to building a long-term relationship that will drive innovation, research, and development in India’s logistics and supply chain management.

Through several research initiatives and strategic partnerships like this, IIT Roorkee is not only advancing innovation in logistics but also significantly contributing to the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. By harnessing its academic strengths and fostering industry collaborations, IIT Roorkee is developing cutting-edge solutions to optimize India’s logistics infrastructure, reduce operational costs, and enhance overall efficiency.
