The Foundation of Indian Historical and Cultural Research (FIHCR) Announces the Prestigious Sir Jadunath Sarkar Fellowship

Bangalore/New Delhi : The Foundation for Indian Historical and Cultural Research (FIHCR), founded by eminent historian Dr. Vikram Sampath, proudly announces the launch of the Sir Jadunath Sarkar Fellowship for Indian History. The prestigious fellowship aims to nurture fresh scholarship on India’s diverse past. The Sir Jadunath Sarkar Fellowship for Indian History is a key initiative of FIHCR, aimed at encouraging rigorous academic research across five distinct themes: Ancient Indian History, Medieval Indian History, Modern Indian History, the Freedom Movement, and Post-Independence Indian History. Each year, through an open call for proposals, the Foundation will offer this prestigious fellowship to five to 10 deserving scholars. Ola Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Ola, has partnered with and supported the fellowship. This partnership underscores Ola’s commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage and fostering academic excellence.

The fellowship – open to Indian nationals including those abroad – will offer an INR 15 lakh grant for producing a publish-worthy manuscript. Qualification criteria for the fellowship includes a graduate degree and proven research and writing skills among others. For the first batch of Sir Jadunath Sarkar Fellows, 19 shortlisted candidates went through a rigorous selection process, including interviews by an eminent jury panel. Consequently, Chandrachur Ghose, Shaan Kashyap, Dr. Saumya Dey, Arshia Malik, Nabaarun Barooah, Jasraj Singh Dhanju, Aarti Tikoo, and Dr. Lakshmi Arya have been selected for the fellowship. The awardees will receive assistance, mentoring, workshops, and funds to publish their manuscripts.

“The Sir Jadunath Sarkar Fellowship represents a pivotal step in our mission to rejuvenate Indian historical research. By providing substantial support to emerging scholars, we aim to uncover new perspectives on our rich past and contribute to a more nuanced understanding of India’s historical trajectory.” Through this initiative, FIHCR aims to drive media interest and community engagement, and attract new sponsors and donors to support its CSR activities. Additionally, FIHCR will introduce research projects at premier Indian universities and the YUVA program, which is designed to engage children and young adults in Indian history.

IIT Roorkee Pioneers Advanced Training for Odisha 160 Engineers in Water Resource Management

Roorkee, Uttarakhand – In a significant step towards bolstering climate-resilient agriculture, IIT Roorkee and the Odisha Integrated Irrigation Project for Climate-Resilient Agriculture (OIIPCRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 8, 2023. The MoU, aimed at enhancing the skills of field engineers and officers in water resource management, was signed by Shri Rashmi Ranjan Nayak, Additional Secretary and Project Director of OIIPCRA, and Prof. Deepak Khare, Dean of Finance and Planning, BIS Chair Professor, Dept of WRD&M, IIT Roorkee. This initiative was supported by the Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of Odisha, Mrs. Anu Garg, IAS.

The aim of the collaboration was to focus on equipping 160 engineers and officers from the Minor Irrigation Organization under the Department of Water Resources, Odisha, with cutting-edge knowledge in Water Resources Management, with a special emphasis on Minor Irrigation Systems.

As part of this effort, IIT Roorkee’s Department of Water Resources Development and Management (WRD&M), led by Prof. Khare, organized eight training programs between January 2024 and August 2024 at the Continuing Education Center, IIT Roorkee. The first course, held from January 8 to 13, 2024, was inaugurated by Prof. K.K. Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee. In these programs 160 Civil Engineers from Odisha participated in the training, gaining in-depth knowledge in various aspects of water resources management, including groundwater assessment, conjunctive use, groundwater governance, earth dam, canal design, canal lining, cross drainage works, water use efficiency, soil erosion, sedimentation, retrofitting of hydraulic structures, project management, economic risk assessment, rainwater harvesting, drought assessment, and cost-benefit analysis of irrigation projects.

In addition to foundational topics, participants were trained in advanced technologies such as Remote Sensing and GIS, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications in water resources, Decision Support System, advanced surveying techniques, and the impact of climate change on irrigation projects. Topics like carbon credits and their relevance to irrigation were also covered.

In the Valedictory Function last batch of the course (12-17 Aug 2024), Prof. K.K. Pant was the Chief Guest and Shri Rashmi Ranjan Nayak, Additional Secretary to Govt & Project Director, OIIPCRA, Odisha, was present as Guest of Honor. Prof. Thang Raj Chelliah Head WRDM and Prof. Kaushik Ghosh, Head CEC were also present at the occasion in addition to course coordinator Prof. Deepak Khare.

The courses featured lectures from distinguished professors across multiple IIT Roorkee departments in addition to Water Resources Development & Management, including Civil Engineering, Humanities, Management, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, as well as experts from the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, and the MNIT, Jaipur.
This collaborative effort is a crucial milestone in promoting sustainable water management practices, enhancing the efficiency of irrigation systems, and empowering engineers to address the challenges of climate-resilient agriculture in Odisha.

भारत बंद है लेकिन मुद्दा क्या है

आज के भारत बंद पर चर्चा मुख्यतः तीन बिंदुओं पर होनी चाहिए।
पहला जब आदेश सुप्रीम कोर्ट का है तब पुनर्विचार याचिका की जगह सड़कों को अखाड़ा बनाने वालों की मंशा क्या है?

दूसरा, यह आदेश उन सभी राजनीतिक दलों, बुद्धिजीवियों, संगठनों की अग्नि परीक्षा की घड़ी है जो शोषित व सर्वहारा के हक की लड़ाई लड़ने का दावा करते हैं। उन्हें स्पष्ट करना होगा कि वो किस पिछड़े के साथ हैं, वो जो आरक्षण का लाभ लेकर अपनी स्थिति सुधार चुके हैं अथवा उनके साथ जिन्हें अब तक आरक्षण का अपेक्षित लाभ नहीं मिल पाया है और वो आज भी शोषित पीड़ित हैं?

और तीसरा, सुप्रीम कोर्ट के इस आदेश को जातीय जनगणना के साथ जोड़ कर देखिए। जातीय जनगणना के उपरांत ऐसी कई जातीय समूह सामने आएगी जिनकी स्थिति आज भी बदतर है। ऐसे में एक नया द्वंद शुरू होगा। पिछड़ी जातियों में भी कई जातियों के समूह व नेता सामने आएंगे जो अपने अपने वर्ग के उन जातियों के सामने खड़े होंगे जो आज समृद्धि की मानक रेखा से ऊपर आ चुके हैं। ऐसे में पिछड़ी व दलित जातियों के उन सभी स्थापित नेताओं के लिए बड़ी चुनौती उभर कर सामने आने वाली है। यही कारण है कि उत्तर प्रदेश में मायावती अखिलेश बिहार में चिराग पासवान जैसे नेता इस आदेश का विरोध कर रहे हैं।

सनोज मिश्रा के लिए सड़क पर उतरेगी बंग परिषद, अरुण मुखर्जी ने दी चेतावनी

डायरेक्टर सनोज मिश्रा के गायब होने के मामले में कंगना रनोट ने गृह मंत्रालय से बात की, डायरेक्टर की पत्नी आज लखनऊ से कोलकाता ढूंढने निकलीं।

पश्चिम बंगाल की सत्य घटनाओं पर आधीरित फिल्म ‘द डायरी ऑफ वेस्ट बंगाल’ के डायरेक्टर सनोज मिश्रा कई दिनों से गायब हैं। डायरेक्टर की पत्नी श्रुति मिश्रा आज आज लखनऊ से कोलकाता ढूंढने निकल चुकी हैं। इसी बीच कंगना रनोट ने इस मामले में गृह मंत्रालय से बात की है। कंगना ने आश्वाशन दिया है कि जल्द ही डायरेक्टर सनोज मिश्रा को ढूंढ निकाला जाएगा।

डायरेक्टर सनोज मिश्रा 14 अगस्त से ही गायब हैं। उनका फोन तभी से बंद आ रहा है। डायरेक्टर की पत्नी ने किसी अनहोनी की आशंका के मद्देनजर लखनऊ के गोमती नगर पुलिस थाने F.I.R दर्ज कराई है। सनोज मिश्रा की पत्नी मदद के कई लिए कई लोगों से गुहार लगा चुकी हैं।

उन्होंने रवि किशन और मनोज तिवारी से भी कई बार मदद की गुहार की, लेकिन उनके तरह से कोई मदद नहीं मिली। ऐसे समय में जब सनोज मिश्रा की पत्नी ने कंगना रनोट से बात की तो कंगना ने उन्हें आश्वाशन दिया कि वो खुद इनके पति को ढूंढकर लाएंगी। इस केस के सिलसिले में कंगना ने गृह मंत्रालय से भी बात की है।

दरअसल, डायरेक्टर सनोज मिश्रा की परेशानी तब से बढ़ी हुई है जब से उन्होंने फिल्म ‘द डायरी ऑफ वेस्ट बंगाल’ बनाई है। उन्हें पिछले डेढ़ साल से लगातार इनको धमकियाँ मिल रही थीं। यह फिल्म इसी महीने रिलीज होने वाली है। इस फिल्म के प्रमोशन के दौरान उन्होंने कोलकाता पुलिस की तरफ से एक नोटिस मिला। पश्चिम बंगाल पुलिस की तरफ से इसी केस के सिलसिले में मिलने के लिए कोलकाता बुलाया गया ।

सनोज मिश्रा 14 अगस्त को ही कोलकाता में पुलिस से मिलने के लिए गए थे जब वे कोलकाता में पुलिस से मिले तभी से उनके दोनों मोबाइल नम्बर लगातार स्विच ऑफ जा रहे हैं और उनका कोई खोज खबर भी नहीं मिल पा रहा है । ऐसे में उनके परिवार में अफरातफरी का माहौल है। ऐसे माहौल में कंगना रनोट ने पूरी तरह से मदद करने का भरोसा दिलाया है।

अखिल भारतीय बंग परिषद के संयोजक भारतीय जनता पार्टी बंगाली प्रकोष्ठ के प्रदेश सहसंयोजक अरुण मुखर्जी ने कहा कि यदि 48 घंटे में कोलकाता पुलिस सनोज मिश्रा का पता नहीं लगा पाई सड़कों पर उततरना पड़ेगा।

अरुण मुखर्जी ने चेताया की हम जल्दी ही उच्चतम न्यायालय की ओर रुख करेंगे इस तरह की तानाशाही किसी भी हालत पर बर्दाश्त नहीं की जाएगी।
