New Delhi, August 7, 2024 – The Austrian Cultural Forum, in collaboration with Alliance Française de Delhi, proudly organized the Austrian Short Film Festival 2024, showcasing some of the most compelling new short films from Austria. The festival highlighted the dynamic and diverse nature of contemporary Austrian cinema, attracting an enthusiastic audience of film aficionados and cultural enthusiasts.
Michael Pal, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum, delivered an inspiring welcome note, emphasizing the Austrian Cultural Forum’s commitment to promoting Austrian culture through various artistic mediums. Pal also highlighted the yearly activities of the Austrian Cultural Forum, offering a sneak peek into this year’s exciting calendar of events.
The film festival was introduced by Murtaza Ali Khan on behalf of the Austrian Cultural Forum. He shared his enthusiasm for Austrian cinema and its influence on the global film industry. “I think that the Austrian Short Film Festival is a unique endeavor to bring Austrian cinema closer to cinema enthusiasts in Delhi NCR. The Austrian Cultural Forum has plans of taking it to other Indian cities as well. I have been a huge admirer of Austrian cinema. Austria has given the world master filmmakers like Billy Wilder, Fritz Lang, Fred Zinnemann, and Michael Haneke,” rejoiced Khan.
The festival presented four award-winning Austrian short films that have already garnered accolades at international film festivals. ‘5 PM Seaside’ explores the theme of reunion with an unexpected twist; it captivated the audience with its heartfelt narrative.

‘Triumph des Schauspielers’ follows a German-Turkish actor who, tired of being typecast, sneaks into an audition for the role of Hitler, challenging stereotypes and showcasing the actor’s determination to break free from conventional roles.
