Delhi : A significant and meaningful courtesy meeting was held in New Delhi, focusing on the preservation, promotion, and global resurgence of the Sanskrit language.On this occasion, Bihar’s Education Minister, ShrMithileshTiwarii, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of ShriLalBahadur National Sanskrit University, New Delhi, Professor MuraliManoharPathak. The distinguished presence of the University’s Registrar, Professor Pawan Kumar Sharma, added further formality, structure, and purpose to the meeting.The high-level interaction provided an opportunity for in-depth deliberations on the holistic development of the Sanskrit language, its current academic status, and future prospects. Both sides widely concurred that Sanskrit is not merely an ancient language, but a foundational pillar of Indian civilization, culture, philosophy, and its rich knowledge tradition. It was therefore emphasized that its study, teaching, and research must be advanced in a more effective and integrated manner within the modern education system.During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held regarding the expansion of Sanskrit education in the state of Bihar. The Education Minister informed that the state government is consistently working towards strengthening Sanskrit schools and colleges, appointing qualified teachers, and fostering interest in Sanskrit among students. He further stated that if Sanskrit is integrated with modern technology, digital learning methodologies, and employment-oriented curricula, it could become more relevant and appealing to the younger generation.Vice-Chancellor Professor MuraliManoharPathak presented a comprehensive account of the university’s academic achievements, research initiatives, and Sanskrit promotion programmes being conducted at both national and international levels. He underlined that the university’s objective is not confined to traditional education alone, but extends to making Sanskrit relevant in contemporary contexts. To this end, continuous expansion is being undertaken in digital resources, online courses, and global academic collaborations.
Registrar Professor Pawan Kumar Sharma outlined the administrative and academic framework of the university, highlighting ongoing efforts to make its functioning more transparent, efficient, and outcome-oriented. He also noted that continuous innovation and reformative measures are being adopted to ensure the delivery of quality education to students.The discussion further explored the prospects of promoting the Indian knowledge tradition on the global stage alongside the preservation of Sanskrit.
