Basnet previously served as the General Manager at Annapurna Media Network for two years.
Having entered the media industry 19 years ago as a district correspondent for Kavre for Kantipur Daily, Basnet possesses extensive expertise in news reporting, sales, distribution, marketing, corporate strategy, performance management, and brand management.
He has previously served as a departmental head in reporting, press, sales and distribution, regional operations, marketing, sales, and corporate divisions at both Kantipur Media Group and Annapurna Media Network. To further refine his media management skills, he has gained experience in modern media operations through field studies and observation tours of prestigious print, television, and digital media houses in the United States and India.
“Embracing the belief that ‘we survive only if the organization survives,’ I will leave no stone unturned to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to me,” he said.
Basnet has been a professional member of the ‘American Marketing Association’ since March 2024. He has been an ‘International Federation of Journalists’ (IFJ) press card holder since September 2022. Since August 2022, he has served as the International Media Advisor for the ‘Youth UNESCO Club, USA,’ and is also affiliated with the ‘International News Media Association’ (INMA), USA.
Basnet has received several prestigious awards and honors for his significant contributions to communication, youth empowerment, and humanitarian work, as well as awards for excellence in his professional career. He has been honored with the UNESCO Youth Peace Ambassador Award from the USA and the Corona Warrior Service Award from Samasta Bharat National Magazine, India.
Furthermore, Basnet has been recognized with the National Drinking Water Journalism Award, the Chairman’s Excellence Award from Kantipur Media Group, and the Best Employee of the Year award from Annapurna.
His accolades also include a citation for ‘Extraordinary Leadership and Performance’ from New York State Assembly Member Steven B. Raga; a ‘Community Media Award’ and certificate from New York State Assembly Member (38th District) Jennifer Rajkumar and Triveni Times USA; a certificate of honor for ‘Performance Management and Visionary Leadership’ from New York State Assembly Member David I. Weprin; and a certificate of honor as a ‘Media Leader’ from New York State Senator John C. Liu. Additionally, he received the ‘Media Leader of the Year’ award from Bstreams LLC USA and a special citation from Suffolk County Legislator Samuel Gonzalez for his distinguished contributions to the Nepali community through journalism and communication.
